NASCAR is facing a backlash with many fans after fining Denny Hamlin $25,000 for what they called "actions detrimental to stock car racing." After the Phoenix race, Hamlin was asked in a post race interview to assess the new Gen 6 car after the second race. Hamlin said, "I don't want to be the pessimist, but it did not race as good as our generation 5 cars. This is more like what the generation 5 was at the beginning."

Hypersensitive NASCAR then hit Hamlin with a $25,000 fine for the comments. Seems to me like a little overpolicing going on here an a backlash storm by fans has hit NASCAR pretty hard.

Hamlin said he would not pay the fine.....don't blame him....the gestapo police have gone too far.

I disagree vehemently with them fining him. For 1 reason i'm not in favor of censorship , and for another it's my oppinion that he was telling the truth.

However i don't think he should have said he wasn't going to pay it. If that's his position just don't pay it and let it become news then , but dont say you're not going to pay it , that's stupid. Just don't pay it and dont say anything.

Not sure why NASCAR is so upset with Denny. Denny makes it sound like the G6 car is a work in progress. Maybe NASCAR was afraid Denny's comments was going to hurt the TV ratings for the Las Vegas race.
